West Bengal Urban Employment Scheme

The West Bengal Urban Employment Scheme (Udyog Sahayak Prakalpa) is a State Sponsored Scheme launched by the Government of West Bengal to provide employment opportunities for unemployed urban youth. The scheme is aimed at providing skill development training and financial assistance to eligible candidates, with the objective of promoting entrepreneurship and self-employment in urban areas.

Under the scheme, eligible candidates are provided with skill development training and a maximum loan of INR 2 lakhs to start their own business or enterprise. The loan is provided at a subsidized interest rate of 4% per annum, with a repayment period of up to 5 years. The scheme also provides for a maximum subsidy of INR 50,000 per enterprise for setting up of business infrastructure and machinery.

The scheme is open to all unemployed urban youth between the ages of 18 and 45 years, who have a minimum qualification of class VIII or above. The scheme is implemented through a network of district-level nodal agencies and empanelled banks, who are responsible for identifying eligible candidates, providing training and financial assistance, and monitoring the progress of the enterprises.

The West Bengal Urban Employment Scheme is aimed at promoting entrepreneurship and self-employment in urban areas, with the objective of creating employment opportunities and improving the economic conditions of the urban population.
